so many days you passed me by (London Fashion Week Day 3)

Sunday 16 February 2014

Hello again. Today I ventured back down into central London for the third day of London Fashion Week. I had such a great time yesterday that I couldn't bear the thought of not being involved in all the excitement...especially as my ultimate idol Dame Vivienne Westwood herself has her Red Label show today. I opted for a slightly different look, and decided to go full out 60s revival meets grandma in my coat from River Island, shirt from Clothes Show, shoes from Topshop, and skirt, belt and clutch from Beyond Retro. I also wore my incredibly fluffy red sweater that I bought on Friday for £4 from my local charity shop...I had to cut it down a bit this morning (there are red fibres everywhere) but it certainly kept me a little warmer than yesterday.

My tights are original Mary Quant (!!!) and were found at Clothes Show in December. I haven't actually had the chance to wear them until today...however I have now found myself with a desperate need for white tights. They are so much more fun than plain black ones for some reason.
Anyway, Somerset House was indeed a lot quieter this morning, with lots of shows like Topshop Unique taking place off premises. There was building tension for the arrival of Vivienne Westwood though, and a frenzy of photographers outside the gates ready to pounce on the poor passengers of any important-looking car that pulled up outside. It was lovely to be back again, and even nicer to be able to catch up with the photographers who shot me yesterday. The friendly, supportive atmosphere is undeniable and inescapable, and heaven for any fashion fanatic wanting to be a part of one of the biggest events of the year. Inspiration is everywhere, and I managed to snap a few more street style shots of some of my favourite looks of the day.

It is obvious that blue is the colour of the season - kicked off with it's appearance in collections by J JS Lee and Felder Felder, it is now making its way off the catwalk and into our wardrobes. Royal blue paired with white seems to be a winning formula, although pale blue and mixtures of several blue tones at once are also becoming more frequently spotted on the most stylish individuals. Orla Kiely showcased the gorgeous pastel blue coat, which seems likely, at the current rate of blue expansion, to overtake last season's pastel pink and become the must-have coat of 2014.
Saying that, pinks and pastels are definitely not going down without a fight - they are still a major trend, with my favourite combinations being those which mix several pastel tones at once.

In other news, I was lucky enough to be featured on Beyond Retro's blog as their London Fashion Week Look of the Day. Thanks to Hannah and Naomi & everyone at Beyond Retro for the feature, I was just pleased to wear the brand!
Hope you are all well, and I will be back tomorrow with some more LFW updates. Hugs,

ellie xo
