Giveaway results & versatile blogger #2!

Sunday, 12 May 2013

The results are in! I was a bit shocked to see so many people had actually entered (over 50! crazy right?!) and so I'm super sorry for this post coming a little later than I'd expected. I numbered the names in order of who emailed first (first email being 1, etc) and then used a random number generator to pick out four names, one winner of the bundle & three runners up. The three runners up are as follows:

1) Chaymae Yalloul

2) Rebecca Sollars

3) Maria Pastor

You guys are backup in case I can't contact the actual winner, and I will be sending a glittery letter & some illustrations your way too! Expect an email :)

The winner of the giveaway was...(imaginary drum roll please)

Dani Germade!

Congratulations Dani, going to email you now and hopefully get everything sent off to you tomorrow, tuesday at the latest :) Hope you like everything!

I also just want to take this little opportunity to say thankyou SOSOSO much to everyone who entered, I'm sorry I can't send a gift package to all of you! I hope you're having a good weekend, and you never know, I might do another giveaway at some point in the future.

ARGH. So this happened. This is the second time I've been nominated and I am so grateful and a little bit shellshocked if I'm honest. I was nominated by the absolutely gorgeous Josephine from Frilly Pink Dreams, who I admire so much, so please check out her blog as she is super awesome and oh so lovely.

The rules are:
1) Thank the person that gave you the award.
2) Include a link to their blog.
3) Select 15 blogs to nominate for the award.
4) Tell the person who nominated you and your readers 7 things about yourself.

Here goes:

1) I don't always dress up, and occasionally wear really boring outfits to school because I'm really lazy and usually running late.
2) I live in the constant battle of wanting to stand out but wanting to blend in at the same time.
3) I'm desperately trying to get over my body image issues. riots not diets, girlfriends.
4) My favourite places are central park, in New York, Brighton beach, and Florence, Venice, and Lake Como in Italy.
5) I enjoy online shopping aka adding everything I want to my basket then crying because I can't afford it
6) No one at school knows I blog. I never really mentioned it, and don't really know how to. I think I'll just wait for them to find it (and I kind of hope they won't)
7) I have eaten almost an entire jar of nutella with a spoon in one sitting, on more than one occasion. I have also dipped the vast majority of chocolate bars in it too (and peanut butter. Chocolate and peanut butter is to die for)

There's my seven things, so I guess I better nominate some blogs. I don't think I can manage 15, but I'll do my best...also, don't be offended if I don't nominate you, I'm just trying to nominate different blogs to the ones I nominated last time.

Ok, phew. I'm sorry for the text-heavy post, just had a lot to say I guess...got an (awesome) outfit post & inspiration planned to post tomorrow, and I'm planning on a room tour later in the week, because I just realised none of you have seen where I spend 99.9% of my time.
hugs,

hey Rosalyn, tell me where you been (Brighton part 2)

Thursday, 9 May 2013

As you know, I went to Brighton last weekend, and on sunday morning (after a huge bowl of amazing porridge and strawberries) I decided to do a little photoshoot on the beach. I personally love pebble beaches...all the pros of a beach, with none of the sand that always seems to stay with you several days after your visit. I actually went back to the beach later that day, and ended up falling completely asleep in the sun, which was amazing and so blissful I can't even describe it properly.

I wore a few of the things I got on saturday, including my £5 real cashmere red polo neck, which I'm a little bit in love with at the moment. I wore it underneath this awesome shirt/dress from Beyond Retro (I'm wearing shorts too but you just can't see them). My shoes are my little off-white boots that I found in the vintage emporium. They fit me perfectly and are the most beautiful things I own at the moment. My bag was my mum's, and my tights are from H&M. Sunglasses are from camden market.

(Petra and her dress are just so perfect)

(both unknown, tumblr)

I wore purple lipstick for some bizarre reason, and some cute little rubber duck earrings. I quite enjoyed the weird looks I got.

(remember you can win one of my handmade flower crowns just like this one along with a bunch of other cool stuff here:

Some inspiration I felt went with this outfit's vibe. Made by taking a screenshot of my tumblr archive.

(from Rookie and tumblr)

I'm totally feeling some 70's vibes at the moment, maybe because I'm doing so much work on that decade for my current art project (which seems to centre around David Bowie). The fashion was amazing. I do love me some flares.

Remember you can still enter my giveaway to win a bunch of cool stuff (like a flower crown//mixtape//fashion cats book//stickers) here: http://roseandvintage.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/giveaway.html

anklebiters ate up your personality (Brighton part 1)

Tuesday, 7 May 2013

Yesterday was bank holiday monday, which meant a day off school, so me and my parents decided to spend the weekend in Brighton. I haven't actually been before (that I can remember, anyway) but was desperate to go as I'd heard it was full of vintage and antique stores, and quirky, extravagant people a little like myself. I'm also quite interested in going to college/university there.
The North Laines are just as you'd imagine...gorgeous streets with pretty painted houses, bunting hanging from buildings, oodles of antique and curiousity shops, and loads of thrift and vintage stores. I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven...Brighton is my paradise, literally.

There was a huge vintage warehouse/emporium, as if Rookie had made a huge store like John Lewis/Selfridges/Macys. It had the cutest turnstile entrance and it was really awesome.

Pretended to try on a dress so I could take a sneaky blog picture for you guys.

I wore my new office platforms, h&m tights, Levi shorts,a leopard shirt from a thrift store in Brick Lane (it's too small and pops open around my chest so I have to wear it under things) a sleeveless sweater from a kilo sale, random bracelets, gold chain, and my rolling stones necklace from Rock by Mail. My flower crown is handmade, and you can win one just like it in my giveaway here: http://roseandvintage.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/giveaway.html

I made some moodboards that some up the sort of springtime feelings I'm having at the moment. I made them my taking screenshots of my tumblr archive.

I've got another post from Brighton with a photoshoot I did on the beach, and some awesome 70's vibes for you all coming later on this week, and don't forget to check out and enter my giveaway: http://roseandvintage.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/giveaway.html
and remember to follow me on bloglovin by clicking the icon in the sidebar! Thankyou so much :)

You get so emotional baby

Friday, 3 May 2013

Happy Friday! And what a gorgeous friday it is. The sun is shining, the birds are singing...and I just hit (and passed) 100 followers. Wow. I don't think it really gets much better than this.
I could go on about how I never thought I'd get any traffic or views on this here blog, and how emotional I am (I am feeling rather ecstatic) but I know those sort of posts often end up sounded really cliche and cheesy and so instead I'd just like to say thankyou SOSOSO much to everyone who has read, looked at, or commented on my ramblings, and especially to those who followed me and made me feel more like an actual blogger, and not just the desperate wannabe I felt like before. I owe you for like, everything.
I didn't really know how to show my gratitude over the interweb so I decided that as a little celebration, I'd do a giveaway on monday, for one of you to win maybe some badges or pins, a mixtape, possibly a flower crown, a copy of a zine I'm making...and any little bits I find in Brighton tomorrow. There might also be two runners up or something but you'll get the whole idea when I post it on monday.

I wore this to go on a little Tuscany exploration while in Italy. I got the shirt from Clothes Show Live in december and it's huge but I just love the patten, it feels really 70s for some reason. The dungarees are from episode and my shoes from office. The bag is a super cute leather duffle bag that my mum found from when she was around my age, maybe a little older.

I'm feeling some serious daisy vibes. Sorry for the fairly short post, will be back with a giveaway post on monday (eep!) and a proper outfit and inspiration etc post on tuesday, with some disposables from my trip to Brighton tomorrow.
Thankyou again for following, means so much!

And the sky was made of amethyst

Monday, 29 April 2013

Happy Monday! Monday sucks. My monday sucked a little less than usual though, because my art teacher suggested I did my whole project on David Bowie and I am so excited and yeah. Anyway, here is the outfit I wore to go and have tea and cakes with my Nan on Sunday (how very english of us!) I got the top from Camden when I went with my friends on friday, and the skirt from Portobello road (Notting Hill). My cross necklace was a present and my chain also from Notting Hill, and my
shoes are from Office.
I know the photos are really out of focus and I'm sorry but it was super windy outside and I didn't have time to do them again.

(below: all from tumblr. just tell me if you want me to try and find the source/take any down)

(had to get Bowie in there somewhere)

So I went to Camden Market with a few friends on our day off on Friday, and I had some film left on one of the disposable cameras from Italy, so we ended up taking a bunch of photos which kind of fit the vibe I'm feeling this week.

(my Rock by Mail stuff came (not the glasses; they're from Notting Hill) I suggest you order some bits and bobs off there as not only do they have loads of cool stuff for good prices but everything I ordered came nicely packaged & presented one working day after ordering)

(Above: Two pages from my mum's teenage journal, with postcards and pressed flowers. Below: The first couple of pages from my journal)
