So this is Christmas...

Monday, 24 December 2012

Is it just me that's super excited?! Especially for the food...going to have some serious working out to do to burn off all the mince pies I've eaten...
Anyway, I managed to take some quick pictures yesterday (sorry about the picture quality) and I promise promise promise I will start posting regularly soon, its like my only new years resolution so you never know, it might actually happen!
I'm wearing a black shirt and embroidered jeans from Topshop, gold hoops and shoes from Rokit, glittery socks from Urban Outfitters, and a DIY gold chain. The belt I picked up from Blitz in brick lane, and I'm totally in love with it which is odd because I don't really wear much red.
Anyway, I hope you all have a good Christmas and new year!

This month I love...

...glitter nail polish. I know it's been around for a while. But seriously, this stuff is to die for. Firstly, you can wear it on bare nails, which looks awesome and glittery, and because it's clear, you can't see any chips, so it's fantastic for parties or any time you don't want to reapply every other day. I used 'Disco Ball' by Rimmel, which I really really really recommend as it looks pretty and dries really fast.

I apologise for the bad photo, doesn't really make my nails look good but oh well...what can you do! (They look better in real life I promise).
I'm trying to get my camera sorted asap so I can take some better pictures, and hopefully that way I'll be able to carry on updating my lookbook hang on in there guys, one day I might not have to upload awful photos, one day!

Clothes Show Live 2012

Sunday, 9 December 2012

So yesterday I went to Clothes Show Live in Birmingham, which is basically a huge annual british fashion and shopping event at the Birmingham NEC. I haven't been to any fashion events before, and so I had no idea what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised to see how relaxed everyone was. There were even people who had come in onesies, which although isn't something I'd do, it was nice to not be the least fashionable person there. I was also surprised to see the sheer number of vintage clothing stalls, as I was expecting more beauty products and demonstrations (which, don't worry, there were plenty of) and so yes I may or may not have gone a little wild and blown the last of my birthday money on a few secondhand items. I got a couple of shirts, an insane wolf tshirt and a patterned cardigan, along with some black embellished Levis and an oversized maroon cardigan...also, every item was under £20.

The fashion show itself was a serious dance/fashion combination, and was really enjoyable for the entire audience, even those not that interested in fashion...and I mean, what really beats a group of young male models in boxers?! The outfits themselves were incredible, and the whole performance was well presented by Henry Holland and Grace Woodward. I also got a tonne of free or extremely reduced stuff, for example O.P.I gold shatter nail polish (below), and even some rimmel makeup and St.Tropez fake tan. I also watched a couple of graduate catwalk shows which were also amazing, and over the whole day have managed to get a pretty good trend report together for autumn/winter 2012.
-Trend Report, Autumn/Winter 2012-
  • OVERSIZED- Oversized everything, from full, floor-length dresses to knee length t-shirts and jumpers.
  • PATTERNS- Spring/Summer's tailored suits have evolved into looser, clashing combinations...look out for these from designers like Marc Jacobs and Prada. Patterned trousers are a practical high-street buy.
  • LONG- Pencil and Bodycon skirts are now mid-thigh or longer, and long floaty dresses should be seen around more often than the ulra-mini skirts of previous years.
  • WHITE & MONOCHROME- Colour blocking is so 2011. Instead, try restricting your colour palette to just white, or only black and white. Since when did Cruella DeVille get so fashionable?
  • LEATHER & FUR- Ditch the military and duffle coats, this season is all about shiny leather and glossy fur. Try a short, sleek brown faux fur coat over a classy LBD and heels for this party season.
  • THE BOX CROP- With high-waisted shorts, skirts and trousers still hanging on, jackets have shrunk, introducing the structured box crop. Watch out for these, as I think they might be sticking around.

Panic mode

Monday, 3 December 2012

It is less than a week until clothes show live 2012 and I literally have no idea what to wear.
I always have difficulty deciding what to wear but usually I'm not going anywhere important enough for my eventual decision to really matter, but this time there are going to be photographers and style scouts and famous people and bloggers and basically just loads of people that I want to make a good impression on, and I am seriously panicking over here!
I don't want to overdress as I don't want to look like something I'm not, or give people the impression that I look nice every day because I most definitely don't (I mean right now I am wearing leggings and an oversized mens jumper, hardly glamourous) but I obviously want to look like I've made some sort of effort.
I'm a huge huge huge fan of harajuku and japanese style, along with vintage and retro clothes, and so hopefully I can find something that shows my tastes and fashion sense without looking ridiculous. Wish me luck...I think I'm going to need it.
