I want to knit you a sweater, want to write you a love letter

Friday 18 July 2014

Hello! This is my last post of old photos...after this I am finally up to date (yay). It only just hit me this week that I actually don't have that much summer left anymore - a mere two weeks to go before I whiz off to France for two weeks, then back a week or so and then college. Ugh. I don't want to think about it - even though I am looking forward to my subjects, I am enjoying this little bit of freedom way too much. I've done quite a lot and haven't had many lazy days, but it still feels like there is so much left to do before I am ready to settle down into routine again.
Anyway, these photos are from a cute Sunday lunch with the whole family a few weeks back. We drove out to Virginia Waters (near Windsor) to meet my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins, and spent a lovely afternoon walking through the cool woodland, watching the swans and then of course enjoying the inevitable Sunday roast (which is something everyone should totally do more often). I also had creme brûlee (ignore awful spelling I have no idea) for the first time since I was a bub and yes, cracked the sugar top with a spoon like Amelie. (If you didn't get that reference you have to watch Amelie, it is the best film in the world ever.)

I wore my new dress from Joy which I got in their sale for £15. It may or may not be two sizes too big for me, but I couldn't resist the cute floral print for the summer. I wore it with Topshop shoes and vest (the whole too big thing meant the dress fell down a lot) H&M tights and my Liberty bag I found at an antique market in Spitalfield's. I guess it was a slightly unusual and quite simplistic outfit for me, but then again I like the fact that my style changes quite a bit, and can be quite normal in some circumstances but absolutely bizarre in others.

In other news, I swam in the ponds again the other day - I can't get over how refreshing it is to be so surrounded by nature, with no chlorine, no tiles, no concrete...nothing except a few stray leaves and some ducks to keep you company. It makes a nice change from a normal pool, and you can totally pretend you are in the countryside (which I seem to do a lot). I am looking forward to getting myself to some art exhibitions over the next two weeks too...I've really begun to miss the quiet of galleries and museums, and the effect of seeing so much creativity in one place. I also really need some inspiration for my summer art assignment, which is to produce three pieces on each of the themes Good, Bad and Ugly. It sounds easy but trying to think of one image or idea that would completely encapsulate a word like 'Bad' is actually really hard (or maybe I'm missing something?) Hopefully I'll come up with an idea soon.

Also, I set up an Etsy! I've loved the idea of selling my clothes for a while now, as I just don't have room for them all and don't wear some of them half as much as they deserve to be worn. I know Hollie, Tessa and Flower amongst others sell on the site so I thought why not join in? Everything is pretty cheap at the moment for what they are, and I have loads more that is going up over the next week so keep checking back! I hope you find something you like!
Also, Sofia of So Loves Vintage chose the winner of the giveaway, and she chose Bakti Jethwa! Congratulations, if you email your details to info@solovesvintage.com, Sofia will get your prize sent out to you!
I'm shooting some new posts this weekend so will be back soon! Hugs

  7. That's such a pretty setting! I can only imagine how peaceful swimming in the pond would've been. You look very cute in the floral print with the little white sandals. Oh, and I agree with roast needing to happen more often...although I didn't have a roast on sunday, I did have one on Wednesday...so that's sort of close, right? (Minus the meat for me but with one too many yorkshire puddings.)

  11. I know this was from a few days ago, but what are you studying in college? From your post, it sounds like art! I've also been thinking of setting up an Etsy shop with old clothes of mine or stuff I make but don't want to wear.
