I only ran looking straight ahead

Friday 2 September 2016

Hello hello!
I seem to have taken a bit of a break from this blog over the last month, but I can promise you I've used the time productively and all for the greater good, if you will. Since I finished school, I've been working as an assistant stylist, shooting loads of cool cats for my own magazine, Bloom, travelling Europe with friends and then working on my foundation project, another zine, and literally so many shoots. I can't quite fathom how much film I've used recently.
Anyway, Bloom issue 2 is finally coming together - issue one had a much greater reception than I had expected, with copies being sent everywhere from Denmark to Indonesia, and the new issue is looking like it's going to be even bigger and better. I've been lucky enough to work with so many young creatives whom I genuinely adore and am inspired by, and really feel this issue is like my child and I just cannot wait to share it with the world.
The photo above and few below are from a shoot Mona and I did with James Perolls, a Berlin based photographer, for Bloom issue 2. We shot on one of the hottest days of the year at the Barbican.

Below are a few sneaks of shoots I've done for the issue...I really got into 35mm photography on a professional level this summer, whereas in past years I've only used it for personal memories. I enjoyed being able to spend time with so many interesting individuals and get to know them all whilst taking their photo - through it I feel like I've made new friends or strengthened old friendships. I've learnt a lot about the craft itself, and also learnt a lot about how much I'm lacking when it comes to camera knowledge and skill! It's all a learning process, and I'm looking forward to continue to work harder at it and improve.

I'm also re-opening my Etsy shop, with SO MANY amazing items going up for sale for really cheap prices (also I am opening up worldwide shipping at last!) I have lots of really beautiful 60s and 70s pieces and more, so definitely check it out if you fancy rare one-off items!
I hope you're having a lovely day and I will be back with a much longer post in the next few days!

~~ ALSO, in case you might have missed:
- WRITTEN CITIZEN: Travel Diary piece (my writing plus all photography from Europe)

-THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID: Interview and photoshoot
