loving would be easy if your colours were like my dreams

Saturday 9 April 2016

Happy Saturday! I've had such a busy but nice day - I usually don't post on a Saturday as I'm generally quite tired from work, but I'm going to a family wedding tomorrow and will be going back to college on Tuesday so this is the last chance I have to write anything before Wednesday at least! We have been in full wedding-preparation mode, with this outfit being from a trip out to get our eyebrows and nails done for the day. I'm not that great at remembering to get my brows done or keep my nails painted...I would love to, but with art and college I often forget completely. It was nice to spend a day getting pampered, I'd like to do it more often.

I bought this blazer last week from Beyond Retro; I don't usually wear bright blue that much but for some reason the tartan grabbed my attention, and when I realised it matched my glittery mustard socks I just had to have it. I am sure a sensible idea would have been to pair it with black however I decided to go wild and wear all the checks, stripes and geometric prints I could find in my wardrobe. The trousers are also from Beyond Retro, and the shoes from Monki. The rest is vintage.

Mustard has always been a favourite of mine, however I normally pair it with reds and oranges. It was refreshing to wear the colour in a totally new way and in a new style. I liked clashing the tartan and checks; I felt very Vivienne Westwood.

I've been getting back into my love of the 80's again...re-watching Boy George & Culture Club performances in order to copy his makeup, wearing lots more colour than usual and of course wearing blazers as often as possible to look like an extra in Heathers. Above are a few particular Boy George / Heathers looks that fit the current vibe I'm feeling!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
